On Saturday we attended the first day of The General Fono. It was a very special day on Fakofo, because the Faipule, the Chief of Tokelau, is this year from Fakaofo. Everyone has been working like mad to prepare enough food for all of the visitors from Atufu and Nukunonu; not to mention all of the dancing and singing practices!
I will write a full description of the events and add photos during the weekend, but for now I have to get home to see if the roof is still up, and not on the floor of our living room!
Tonight there will be lots of singing and dancing competitions between the three atolls, so all going well the rain holds off so we can get over to Fale in the boat and stay dry!

Hi Ms MacDonald. It is Jake Koekemoer here. My mum found your sight last night. She said your write very well. You trip sounds great. I miss you at school. We had the triathalon and swimming sports this week. I was put in the wrong age group for the triathalon (10year olds instead of 9year olds). I won the triathalon and surprised everyone. I am going to the interzones for the triathalon and the zones for freestyle swimming. I hope you come back to school before I leave. I will keep up with your blog and write to you. I’m sooo happy you and your Mum found the blog site! (Hi Donna!) A BIG congratulations on your sporting achievements! It must be all the swimming you do with the surf club and swimming lessons, plus all the laps around the field that you had to do last year in my class!
I have to admit, I do miss my Room 9 from last year! I was so lucky to have such a fab class! My class this year are Year 4… (I’ve always thought that Year 4’s are a little bit crazy, and teaching them this year confirms my suspicions!). Although, they probably think that their teacher is a little bit crazy too…
A couple of them can’t really speak English, so I feel a bit sorry for them (and me too!).
You’ll have to make sure that you get as many of the kids from Sumner reading the blog as you can! When I come back I will definitely come and visit the school; I had such a great time teaching there, I’d be crazy not to! And, you just never know when that might be ;0).
